7 Hawks Media was established in 2007 by Hermis Yanis Jr. a former truck driver who suffered disabling injuries after a fall from his truck. His injuries were severe enough to prevent him from continuing in his career as a driver, but being an individual with tremendous drive and determination, he set out to find a new career at an age where many would have simply retired with their disability benefits.
Always mindful of our responsibility to be of service to others, Hermis decided to run for elected office in his home town of Worcester, Massachusetts, New England's second largest city. After two unsuccessful attempts at campaigning for City Council, Hermis realized that honesty and directness were liabilities in politics and that he would better serve the community by covering politics in an honest, insightful and straightforward manner in the media.
He first did so on a radio show he hosted on W.O.R.C. AM 1310 called "The Hermis Yanis Perspective" where his guests included City Councilors, State Senators, Police Department representatives, union officials, and the U.S. Representative in his district.. In addition, candidates for various offices were also profiled and interviewed.
After reaching the almost inescapable conclusion that the vast majority of these politicians were more self-serving than selfless, and getting honest responses to simple questions seemed impossible, Hermis began doing straight-to-the-point, no-holds-barred political commentaries for which he has since become known and that have understandably angered many politicians.
Moving to local cable access WCCA TV 13, Hermis produced a community based one hour broadcast called "The Hermis Yanis Show" which aired Thursday evenings at 7:30 and Friday mornings at 9:00.
Although "The Hermis Yanis Show" focused principally on the community and its people, including small business owners, Hermis found himself unable to resist adding political commentary segments to his show, which contributed to the show's sky rocketing popularity to the point that "The Hermis Yanis Show" was the top award winner at the station in both its first and second years on the air. In fact, “The Hermis Yanis Show” became the station’s top award winner after being on the air for just three months! Never in the station's twenty (20) year history had a show been the top award winner in its first and second years, and created such a measurable impact on the community's conscience.
In direct response to his show’s soaring popularity, In March of 2007 Hermis made the leap from local access television to commercial local television when he started producing/ directing "Hermis at Large" on Charter Communications TV 3.
